Tricresyl Phosphate (TCP) is an isomer mixture with a mild pungent odor. Its ortho and meta isomers are liquid, while the para isomer is crystalline solid. TCP is generally synthesized from cresol and phosphorus oxychloride using an aluminum catalyst.

Tricresyl Phosphate acts as a plasticizer and flame retardant for vinyl plastics. It also serves as a nitrocellulose solvent and is used in cellulosic molding compounds. Additionally, it is applied as an additive in extreme-pressure lubricants and as a non-flammable fluid in hydraulic systems.
