Product Description

Product Description of Tetrasodium pyrophosphate CAS#7722-88-5

Tetrasodium pyrophosphate (TSPP) is widely used as a laboratory buffering agent, especially for preparing EDTA-TSPP extraction buffers in soil microcystin analysis. It is an odorless white powder or granular solid. Industrially, it serves as a water softener, thickener, dispersant, wool degreaser, metal cleaner, and detergent builder. It also acts as a sequestering agent for metal electrodeposition. Additionally, TSPP is used for tartar control in oral care products, as a chelating agent in antimicrobial research, and as a food additive in processed meat and canned seafood.

Product Application of Tetrasodium pyrophosphate CAS#7722-88-5

Tetrasodium pyrophosphate (TSPP) is a mildly alkaline substance with a pH of approximately 10, serving as a coagulant, emulsifier and sequestrant. It is moderately soluble in water, with solubility of 0.8 g/100 mL at 25°C. It thickens instant puddings and reduces melting and fat separation in cheese. It also acts as a dispersant in malted milk and chocolate powder, and inhibits crystal formation in canned tuna. Also named tetrasodium diphosphate, it is non-toxic and biocompatible, used as an electroactive medium for coating exfoliation and a functional additive in food industry.
