Product Description

Product Description of Glycidyl methacrylate CAS#106-91-2

Glycidyl Methacrylate (GMA) is a clear, colorless liquid with a strong ester and fruity odor. It contains a polymerizable methacrylate group and a reactive epoxy group. Slightly miscible with water and soluble in most organic solvents, it has low volatility with vapor heavier than air. GMA readily copolymerizes with phenols, ketones, acids and amines. Its epoxy group improves material durability, mechanical strength, optical clarity and adhesion.

Product Application of Glycidyl methacrylate CAS#106-91-2

Glycidyl Methacrylate (GMA) is a common monomer for epoxy resin synthesis, endowing polyolefins and acrylate resins with epoxy functionality. It is widely used in polymer coatings, adhesives, plastics and elastomers. It also applies to biocompatible hydrogels such as GMA-dextran. Besides, in-situ polymerization with trimethylolpropane trimethacrylate yields macroporous sorbents, and GMA can be grafted onto polypropylene to prepare functional polymers.
