Product Description

Products Description of Sorbitol CAS#50-70-4

Sorbitol (CAS#50-70-4) is a natural hexahydric alcohol sourced from rose hips and rowan berries, commercially made by glucose reduction. It is an essential feedstock for vitamin C and surfactants, used in pharmaceuticals and low‑calorie diabetic sweeteners. An isomer of mannitol, it possesses good stability and broad applicability in food and chemical industries.

Product Application of Sorbitol CAS#50-70-4

Sorbitol, a water‑soluble polyol from glucose hydrogenation, has 60% the sweetness of sucrose and only 2.6 kcal/g. It functions as a humectant and sweetener in food and pharmaceuticals, maintaining moisture in confectionery, pet food and shredded coconut, and improving texture in sugar‑free desserts and low‑calorie beverages. It is also used in chewing gum and as a crystallization regulator in soft sugar products.
