Product Description

Products Description of Triethanolamine CAS#102-71-6

Triethanolamine (TEA) is a colorless oily liquid with a mild ammonia-like odor. It is hygroscopic and may darken when exposed to air, light, or heat, solidifying into colorless to pale yellow cubic crystals at low temperatures. Key properties include a melting point of 21.2 °C, boiling point of 335.4 °C, relative density of 1.1242, and refractive index of 1.4852. A 0.1 mol/L aqueous solution has a pH of about 10.5. TEA is completely miscible with water, methanol, and acetone, soluble in benzene and ether, and slightly soluble in carbon tetrachloride and n-heptane. As a strong organic base, it is widely used in condensation reactions.
