2,6-Dimethyl-4-heptanone, commonly called diisobutyl ketone, is a ketone mainly used as a flavoring agent.
It acts as an efficient extraction solvent for plasma atomic emission spectrometry, enabling the detection of ten trace metals in water samples: vanadium, chromium, iron, cobalt, nickel, copper, zinc, molybdenum, cadmium and lead. It can also be used as an extractant for phosphorus determination.
Besides this, it is a valuable organic solvent and widely applied as a chemical intermediate in industrial production.


Product Application of 2,6-Dimethyl-4-heptanone CAS#108-83-8

2,6-Dimethyl-4-heptanone finds broad use as a coating solvent. It occurs naturally in mint oil and works well as a dispersant for organosol resins.

It is also used for the growth inhibition treatment of bulbs and tubers. In addition, it dissolves nitrocellulose, and serves as an important intermediate for manufacturing corrosion inhibitors,

pharmaceutical raw materials and dyes.
