Product Description

Product Description of ‌Guar gum CAS#9000-30-0

Guar gum is a natural plant gum extracted from carob pods and guar beans. Carob trees are perennial shrubs mainly distributed along the Mediterranean coast, while guar beans are annual legumes grown in desert areas including India, Pakistan and Texas of the United States, where there are large diurnal temperature differences and sufficient rainfall. At present, guar gum is mainly extracted from guar beans. Mature guar beans are first peeled and then sent for grinding. Through thermochemical treatment, raw materials are separated into endosperm flakes, germ and husk. The high-protein germ is used as animal feed, and endosperm flakes are further processed into finished guar gum.

Product Application of Guar gum CAS#9000-30-0

Guar gum is extracted from the seed kernel of Cyamopsis tetragonoloba, with a mannose to galactose ratio of about 2:1. It can disperse easily in cold water to form viscous solutions, and its viscosity rises further after heating. A 1% aqueous solution has a viscosity of 2,000–3,500 centipoise (cp) at 25°C.
It is a multifunctional thickener and stabilizer, widely used in ice cream, baked goods, sauces and beverages with a common dosage of 0.1% to 1.0%. It is also scientifically named guaran.
