Dibutyl sebacate is industrial grade with purity ≥99%. It is a colorless transparent liquid with a mild odor. Its melting point is -10°C and boiling point is 344°C. The vapor pressure is 0.0001 mmHg at 25°C, and the relative density is 0.94 at 20°C. It does not dissolve in water, but is miscible with ethanol, ether, benzene, chloroform and most organic solvents. The product remains stable under normal conditions and should be kept separate from strong acids, strong bases and oxidizing agents.


Product Application of Dibutyl sebacate CAS# 109-43-3

Dibutyl sebacate (DBS) is the dibutyl ester of sebacic acid. It is widely used in food packaging plastics, medical devices and pharmaceutical products. It also acts as a desensitizer for torpedo propellant Otto fuel II. Besides, it can be used as a plasticizer to make ethylcellulose films. It can also serve as the core material of liquid-core capsules with cross-linked alginate and polyacrylamide membrane, which are prepared by co-extrusion jet breakup method for extracting pesticide atrazine.
