Product Description of Ammonium ferric citrate CAS#1185-57-5

Ammonium ferric citrate is industrial grade with purity ≥99%. It is a brownish-red odorless amorphous powder with a slight iron taste. It decomposes when heated and has no obvious boiling point. Its vapor pressure is very low at 25°C, and the relative density is 1.80 at 20°C. It dissolves easily in water, but not in ethanol, ether or chloroform. The product is stable under normal storage conditions, and should be kept away from strong acids, strong oxidants and reducing agents.

Ammonium ferric citrate serves as a food iron fortifier and features better absorption than inorganic iron. It is permitted for use in various foods in China with standard dosage ranges: 4000–8000 mg/kg for salt and sandwich sugar; 1200–1350 mg/kg for high-iron cereals and related products (daily intake limit 50 g); 400–800 mg/kg for dairy and infant foods; 160–330 mg/kg for cereals and cereal products; 70–140 mg/kg for beverages.
