Product Description of Calcium Stearate CAS# 1592-23-0

Calcium stearate, also known as calcium octadecanoate, is a fine white crystalline powder with the chemical formula (C17H35COO)2Ca and a molecular weight of 607.00.

It has a melting point of 179°C to 180°C and will decompose under heating. It is insoluble in water, cold ethanol and diethyl ether, soluble in hot benzene, toluene and turpentine, and slightly soluble in hot ethanol and diethyl ether.

Calcium stearate can react with strong acids to decompose into stearic acid and corresponding calcium salts. It is hygroscopic in air and resistant to lipolytic microorganisms.
