Product Description of ‌Calcium Chloride CAS#10043-52-4

Calcium chloride (CAS# 10043-52-4) comes in anhydrous (white porous, mp 782 °C, density 2.15 g/cm³, deliquescent, exothermic dissolution) and hydrated forms. Hexahydrate (colorless crystals, density 1.71 g/cm³) dehydrates to dihydrate at 30 °C and fully to anhydrous form above 200 °C. Both forms are highly hygroscopic.

Incompatibilities:

Aqueous solutions are weakly basic

Reacts with moist zinc to release flammable hydrogen

Dissolves exothermically in water with significant heat release

Incompatible with water, bromine trifluoride, 2-furan and peroxycarboxylic acids

May corrode certain building materials and metals in humid environments


