Product Description

Product Description of Potassium carbonate CAS#584-08-7

Potassium carbonate (K₂CO₃), also known as potash or pearl ash, is a deliquescent white powder or colorless crystal with a salty taste. It is soluble in water to form a strongly alkaline solution, but insoluble in ethanol and other organic solvents.

Product Application of Potassium carbonate CAS#584-08-7

Potassium carbonate is applied in optical glass manufacturing to improve its transparency, mechanical strength and refractive index. It can be used as a welding rod coating to avoid welding arc interruption. It is also used in vat dyes, as a de-whitening agent in ice dyeing, and as an absorbent for carbon dioxide and hydrogen sulfide. Blended with soda ash, it can be made into dry powder fire extinguishing agents.
