Product Description

Product Description of ‌Diantimony trioxide CAS#1309-64-4

Antimony trioxide: orthorhombic (valentinite, 5.67 g/cm³) or cubic (senarmontite, 5.20 g/cm³, dimeric Sb₂O₆). Refractive index 2.087; mp 656 °C (O₂-free); bp 1550 °C (sublimes); sublimes at 400 °C (vacuum). Very slightly soluble in water, insoluble in organics; soluble in HCl, caustic alkalis and tartaric acid.

Product Application of Diantimony trioxide CAS#1309-64-4

Diantimony trioxide is a key flame-retardant additive for plastics. Industrial grades (99.0–99.9% purity) are produced by oxidizing antimony metal/sulfide ores at 600–800 °C, with particle size controlled via processing. Also used as a white pigment; fine particles maximize whiteness/opacity, coarse grades for translucent plastics. Insoluble in water, low moisture loss.
