Cobalt(II) carbonate (CoCO₃) is a reddish paramagnetic solid. It acts as an intermediate in cobalt hydrometallurgical purification from ores, and serves as an inorganic pigment as well as a precursor for catalyst production. It naturally occurs as the rare red-to-pink mineral spherocobaltite, and can be synthesized via the reaction of cobalt sulfate and sodium bicarbonate solution.

Cobalt carbonate occurs naturally as cobalt spar and sphaerocobaltite. It is widely used in ceramics, cobalt pigments, catalysts and temperature indicators, and serves as a raw material for preparing other cobalt(II) salts. In agriculture, it is applied to soil and used as a nutritional additive in cattle feed.
