Copper chromite CAS#12018-10-9

Copper chromite CAS#12018-10-9

Highly Selective Hydrogenation Catalyst: Copper chromite demonstrates excellent catalytic activity and selectivity in hydrogenation reactions of both aliphatic and aromatic compounds, ensuring efficient conversion of targeted functional groups.

Versatile Industrial Catalytic Applications: Widely used in industrial processes such as converting furfural to furfuryl alcohol, reducing butyraldehyde to 1-butanol, and partially hydrogenating conjugated dienes to monoenes.

Effective for Biomass and Oil Processing: The catalyst is also studied for hydrogenolysis of cellulose and selective reduction of carbonyl groups in vegetable oils, making it valuable in biomass conversion and chemical manufacturing.

Dual Function as Catalyst and Pigment: In addition to catalytic performance, copper chromite can act as a combustion catalyst to regulate burn rates and also serves as a light-absorbing pigment in various materials.

Product Description

Product Description of ‌Copper chromite CAS#12018-10-9

Copper chromite (CAS 12018-10-9) is a black or grayish-black inorganic compound, mainly applied as a multifunctional catalyst in organic synthesis and industrial production. It has a density of about 5.400 g/cm³ and an extremely low vapor pressure of 0-0.08 Pa at 190-200℃, and is insoluble in water and dilute acids.

Product Application of Copper chromite CAS#12018-10-9

Copper chromite is widely used as a catalyst in hydrogenation reactions, owing to its excellent performance in the selective hydrogenation of functional groups in aliphatic and aromatic compounds. Industrially, it is commonly employed for the conversion of furfural to furfuryl alcohol and the reduction of butyraldehyde to 1-butanol. It also enables the partial hydrogenation of conjugated dienes to monoenes and the selective reduction of carbonyl groups in vegetable oils. Furthermore, CuCr catalysts have been extensively studied for multiple catalytic applications, including the hydrogenolysis of cellulose. Apart from catalytic hydrogenation, copper chromite can also serve as a combustion catalyst to control burning rate, and act as a light-absorbing pigment in specific materials.
