Product Description

Product Description of Gadolinium oxide CAS#12064-62-9

Gadolinium oxide (Gd₂O₃) is a common oxide of the rare earth element gadolinium. Its EDTA complexes are widely adopted as MRI contrast agents to enhance imaging definition. It serves as an essential raw material for fluorescent substances, nuclear fuels, magnetic materials and screen sensitivity enhancers. Featuring high thermal stability and low solubility, it is well suited for glass, optical materials, ceramics and filament coatings. It also finds extensive use in lasers, telecommunication and other electronic devices, neutron absorption and reactivity control of nuclear reactors, as well as catalysts for chemical processes.

Product Application of Gadolinium oxide CAS#12064-62-9

Gadolinium oxide, also termed gadolinia, is extensively used to produce optical glass and gadolinium-yttrium garnets for microwave applications. High-purity grades are adopted for manufacturing phosphors used in color television tubes. Besides, gadolinium oxide is doped into ceria to prepare electrolytes with high ionic conductivity and low operating temperature, which are ideal for cost-effective fuel cell fabrication. As a mainstream oxide of the rare earth element gadolinium, its derivatives also serve as promising contrast agents for MRI scanning.
