Product Description

Product Description of Sodium Hypochlorite CAS#7681-52-9

Sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl) is a pale green crystalline solid unstable in air. It dissolves readily in cold water but decomposes in hot water, with a faint sweet odor. It is commonly supplied in two concentrations: household bleach contains 5.25 wt% NaOCl, while industrial grade has about 150 g/L available chlorine.

Product Application of Sodium Hypochlorite CAS#7681-52-9

Sodium hypochlorite is only provided in aqueous solution, as its anhydrous solid is extremely unstable and potentially explosive. Its pentahydrate solid is also unstable in air and decomposes by reacting with atmospheric carbon dioxide, whereas its aqueous solution enjoys good stability. It is widely used for bleaching textiles and paper pulp, making cleaning agents, water purification, swimming pool disinfection, as well as serving as a bactericide and topical anti-infective agent.
