Product Description

Product Description of Chromic chloride hexahydrate CAS#10060-12-5

Chromium(III) chloride hexahydrate is industrial grade with purity ≥99%, appearing as purple odorless crystalline powder. It melts at 83℃ with loss of crystal water, and its anhydrous form boils at 1300℃. It has negligible vapor pressure at 25℃ and a relative density of 1.76 at 20℃. It is freely soluble in water, soluble in ethanol, and insoluble in ether. Stable under normal storage conditions, it should be kept apart from strong oxidants and strong bases for chemical incompatibility.

Product Application of Chromic chloride hexahydrate CAS#10060-12-5

Chromium(III) chloride hexahydrate (CrCl₃·6H₂O) acts as a versatile chromium source to catalyze the Takai reaction for aldehyde iodovinylation, and is also used to synthesize tetradentate Schiff base chromium(III) complexes. It can prepare Cr(III)-fatty acid complexes for catalyzing 1-monoacylglycerol synthesis. Combined with choline chloride to form deep eutectic solvents, it serves as a catalyst for esterification of formic acid, acetic acid and alcohols.
