Product Description

Product Description of Praseodymium oxide CAS#12037-29-5

Praseodymium oxide (praseodymia) is a dark brown powder, insoluble in water and only soluble in strong acids. It is stable at normal temperature and pressure. As a rare earth oxide, it acts as a basic anhydride and participates in redox reactions with acids and strong reducing agents. Rare earth oxides are generally composed of oxygen anions and rare earth metal cations, featuring water insolubility as well as excellent chemical and thermal stability, which make them ideal for ceramic structural materials. Accordingly, praseodymium oxide is widely used in traditional ceramics and advanced electronic materials. With good ionic conductivity, it is also applied to aerospace lightweight structural parts and electrochemical systems including fuel cells.

Product Application of Praseodymium oxide CAS#12037-29-5

Praseodymium oxide is widely applied in ceramic fields, covering traditional clay products to high-end electronic materials. Owing to its ionic conductivity, it is suitable for aerospace lightweight structural parts and electrochemical systems like fuel cells. It is also an ingredient of didymium glass, used as a colorant for welding goggles, and serves as a key additive in the preparation of praseodymium yellow pigments.
