Product Description

Product Description of Sulfamic acid CAS#5329-14-6

Sulfamic acid is a white flaky crystalline solid with an orthorhombic crystal structure. It is odorless, non-volatile and non-hygroscopic. It dissolves easily in water and liquid ammonia, slightly soluble in methanol, and insoluble in ethanol, ether, carbon disulfide and liquid sulfur dioxide. Its aqueous solution is strongly acidic, comparable to hydrochloric acid and sulfuric acid, yet far less corrosive to metals than hydrochloric acid. Sulfamic acid features low toxicity, but prolonged skin contact and eye contact must be strictly avoided.

Product Application of Sulfamic acid CAS#5329-14-6

Sulfamic acid is a sulfuric acid monoamide derivative and a strong inorganic acid. It is extensively used in chemical cleaning, especially for removing nitrite residues as well as carbonate and phosphate scale deposits. It acts as an efficient catalyst in multiple organic reactions, including Friedländer quinoline synthesis and liquid-phase Beckmann rearrangement, which converts ketoximes into amides. Additionally, it is used to synthesize α-aminophosphonates via the three-component reaction of aldehydes, amines and diethyl phosphite.
