Anisole (methoxybenzene) is industrial grade with purity ≥99%. It is a colorless transparent liquid with a distinctive aromatic odor. Its melting point is –37.5 °C and boiling point is 154.8 °C. The vapor pressure is 4.7 mmHg at 25 °C, and the relative density is 0.995 at 20 °C. Anisole is insoluble in water, yet freely soluble in ethanol, ether and most organic solvents. It maintains chemical stability under normal conditions and is incompatible with strong acids and oxidizing agents.
