Product Description of Sodium Carbonate CAS No. 497-19-8

Sodium carbonate (Na₂CO₃) is a white, hygroscopic alkaline powder that forms basic aqueous solutions. Approximately half of global production is used in glass manufacturing (as a silica flux), with the remainder applied in pulp/paper, textiles, water treatment, detergents, food processing and general industrial cleaning.

Sodium carbonate is a water-soluble alkaline crystalline compound. In food processing, it acts as a pH regulator, antioxidant, curing agent and processing aid, used in instant soups, alginate dessert gels, puddings, sauces and baked goods to adjust acidity, improve texture and enhance flavor.
