Product Description

Product Description of Procaine Hydrochloride CAS#51-05-8

Procaine hydrochloride is a potent, low-toxic non-addictive local anesthetic blocking nerve conduction. Poor skin permeability rules out surface anesthesia; it is chiefly applied for infiltration, spinal and conduction anesthesia.

Its aqueous solution stays stable at pH 3.0-5.0. Injection solutions are pH-adjusted to 3.3-5.5, sterilized at 100°C for 30 minutes and stored sealed away from light.

Its aromatic amino group reacts with sodium nitrite to form diazonium salt, which couples with alkaline β-naphthol to yield scarlet azo substance.
