Product Description of NYLON 12 CAS#25038-74-8
Nylon 12 (PA12), alternatively named polyamide 12 or poly(dodecanolactam), is a semi‑crystalline long‑chain polyamide thermoplastic synthesized by ring‑opening polymerization of laurolactam. It exhibits the lowest water‑absorption rate among common nylons and is available as granules, powder or fine cosmetic‑grade powder.
Product Application of NYLON 12 CAS#25038-74-8
In automotive applications, it produces flexible fuel‑line and pneumatic tubing resistant to oil and coolants. It serves as a popular powder material for SLS 3D‑printing functional parts. In cosmetics, fine‑grade nylon 12 acts as a texturing and oil‑absorbing filler in powder‑type cosmetics. It is also used for medical‑grade components, electrical insulation parts, wear‑resistant gears and sealing elements. Virgin, glass‑fiber‑reinforced and carbon‑fiber‑reinforced grades are commercially available to meet different performance demands.
