Sodium p-aminosalicylate (PAS-Na) is a common anti-tuberculosis drug in white crystalline powder form. It dissolves easily in water and poorly in most organic solvents with weak alkaline aqueous solution. Its solution tends to decompose, so fresh preparation is required.

Sodium 4-aminosalicylate treats various tuberculosis infections and only acts on tubercle bacilli. Rapid drug resistance occurs when used alone, so it is often combined with other antitubercular drugs as a second-line agent.
It also alleviates hyperthyroidism especially in tuberculous patients for preoperative preparation. Intravenous injection is applicable for severe tuberculous meningitis.
