It melts at 888°C and decomposes at 1470°C, featuring density 9.53 and low vapor pressure at room temperature. Insoluble in water, it dissolves easily in acetic and nitric acids and slightly in alkalis. It is chemically stable, and shall be stored away from strong reducing agents and concentrated strong acids.
