Lead(II) oxide (CAS:1317-36-8), also called litharge, is odorless yellow crystalline solid with purity over 99%. It melts at 888°C and decomposes at 1470°C, featuring density 9.53 and low vapor pressure at room temperature. Insoluble in water, it dissolves easily in acetic and nitric acids and slightly in alkalis. It is chemically stable, and shall be stored away from strong reducing agents and concentrated strong acids.


Product Application of Lead Monoxide CAS#1317-36-8

Lead monoxide has wide industrial uses. It is used in medicinal ointments and raw materials for lead subacetate. In ceramics and glass industries, it acts as glaze and flux for glass and porcelain. It can make firm metal cement with glycerol and create iridescent metal surface finishes. It also serves as colorant for natural fibers, rubber pigment, oil drying agent and analytical reagent for gold and silver ores.
