Product Description

Product Description of Cesium Carbonate CAS#534-17-8

Cesium carbonate is an inorganic white solid at ambient temperature and pressure. It is highly water-soluble and highly hygroscopic in air. Its aqueous solution is strongly alkaline, reacting with acids to produce cesium salts, water and carbon dioxide. Thanks to its high reactivity and convertibility, it is widely used as a precursor for making other cesium salts and in diverse chemical processes.

Product Application of Cesium Carbonate CAS#534-17-8

Cesium carbonate is widely used to synthesize other cesium compounds and acts as a strong base for delicate organic reactions. It is frequently employed in C–C and C–N cross-coupling reactions such as Suzuki–Miyaura, Heck and Buchwald–Hartwig amination. In energy materials, it aids electron transport in solar cells to improve power conversion efficiency.

It also finds applications in special optical glass, petroleum catalytic additives, high-performance ceramics and the sulfuric acid industry. Moreover, it facilitates various organic conversions, including N-alkylation of sulfonamides, β-lactams and indoles, as well as amine carbamination, alcohol carbonylation, and alcohol aerobic oxidation to carbonyls with no polymeric byproducts. It also enables efficient O-alkylation of alcohols to yield mixed alkyl carbonates.
