Diethylene glycol CAS#111-46-6

Diethylene glycol CAS#111-46-6

Excellent Solvent Properties : Diethylene glycol dissolves dyes, resins, oils, nitrocellulose, and many organic compounds, making it highly versatile in chemical and textile applications.

Low Volatility and Hygroscopicity : Its low volatility and strong moisture-absorbing ability allow it to function effectively as a softening agent for tobacco, paper, artificial sponges, adhesives, and casein.

Wide Industrial Applications : Used in lubricants, reducing oils, dry cleaning soaps, printing inks, steam-set inks, and non-grain wood stains, as well as a conditioning agent for wool, rayon, and cotton.

Gas Dehydration Capability : Effective in natural gas treatment when combined with monoethanolamine, removing moisture, hydrogen sulfide, and carbon dioxide.

Product Description

Diethylene Glycol CAS#111-46-6

Diethylene glycol (DEG) is a clear, non-volatile, non-corrosive oily liquid with strong solvency and hygroscopicity. Miscible with water and most organic solvents, it is used in textile conditioning, dyeing, tobacco/paper softening, industrial lubricants, inks, wood stains, and natural gas dehydration (with monoethanolamine for simultaneous H₂S/CO₂ removal).

Product Usage

Propanols are widely used as solvents in coatings, antifreeze formulations, and household and personal care products. They also serve as chemical intermediates in the production of esters, amines, and other organic derivatives. Specifically, 1-propanol is commonly employed as a solvent in printing inks, paints, cosmetics, pesticides, cellulose esters, and insecticides.

1-Propanol is also commercially utilized in the manufacture of glycol ethers, which feature dual functionality, offering high solvency, chemical stability, and compatibility with water.
