Product Description

1,4-Butanediol CAS#110-63-4

1,4-Butanediol (1,4-BD) is a colorless viscous liquid (one of four stable butanediol isomers) with terminal hydroxyl groups, enabling reactions to form polyesters, polyurethanes and polycarbonates. A core chemical intermediate for plastics, solvents, elastic fibers and polyols, with BASF as a leading global producer.

Product Usage of 1,4-Butanediol CAS#110-63-4

1,4-Butanediol (BDO) is a core chemical intermediate primarily used to produce tetrahydrofuran (THF, via phosphoric acid dehydration) and PTMEG for spandex, urethane elastomers and copolyester ethers. It is also used to manufacture engineering plastics (PBT), polyurethanes, gamma-butyrolactone, polyester plasticizers, solvents and coatings. Other applications include pharmaceutical synthesis (anticancer epothilones), adhesives, cleaning agents, agricultural/veterinary chemicals and cellulosic plasticizers.
