Product Description

Cyclohexanol CAS#108-93-0

Cyclohexanol is a clear, colorless to light yellow, viscous, and hygroscopic liquid with a camphor-like odor. Its odor detection threshold is reported to be 64 µg/m³ (155 ppbv). It features a relatively high flash point and boiling range, making it thermally stable. Cyclohexanol is an effective solvent for cellulose ethers, ester gum, shellac, low-viscosity silicones, and polyvinyl chloride. It has limited use in screen inks and is fully miscible with oils and hydrocarbon solvents.

Product Usage of Cyclohexanol CAS#108-93-0

Cyclohexanol is primarily used as a chemical raw material for producing Nylon 66 (via adipic acid/hexamethylenediamine) and cyclohexanone (a versatile solvent/intermediate). It also functions as a pharmaceutical solvent/intermediate (e.g., ceftriaxone synthesis), a precursor for emulsifying/dispersing surfactants, and a solvent for analytical determinations of molybdenum, rhenium, aluminum and bismuth.
