Polymaleic Acid CAS#26099-09-2

Polymaleic acid is the homopolymer of maleic acid, exhibiting excellent stability in the presence of chlorine and other oxidizing biocides. It offers effective scale inhibition and high-temperature resistance, making it suitable for use in water desalination plants. It is a highly effective calcium carbonate antiscalant under high-temperature and highly alkaline cooling water conditions. Additionally, when combined with zinc salts, it functions as a corrosion inhibitor. Polymaleic acid can also be applied as a concrete additive and in crude oil evaporation processes. It is produced through the polymerization of maleic anhydride in an aromatic hydrocarbon at temperatures ranging from 60°C to 200°C.

Product Usage of Polymaleic Acid (PMA)

PMA is used in oil well acidizing (dissolves carbonates, boosts oil recovery, prevents corrosion), papermaking (strengthener and retention agent for packaging/cultural paper), and textiles (printing/dyeing auxiliary for uniform coloration). Its double bond structure also makes it a versatile polymerizable monomer and modifier for improving hydrophilicity and anti-fouling performance.
