Paraformaldehyde CAS#30525-89-4

Paraformaldehyde CAS#30525-89-4

High-Performance Engineering Polymer:Polyoxymethylene (POM) is a high-molecular-weight polymer of formaldehyde, featuring a chain length of approximately 8 to 100 repeating units, offering excellent mechanical strength and stability.

Excellent Heat Resistance:Long-chain polyoxymethylene is widely used in the production of heat-resistant engineering plastics, making it suitable for demanding industrial applications.

Widely Recognized Material:Also known as polyoxymethylene plastics (POE), POM is commercially recognized under well-known brands such as DuPont’s Delrin®, reflecting its proven performance and reliability.

Predictable Thermal Decomposition:When exposed to high temperatures, polyoxymethylene decomposes rapidly and releases formaldehyde with a slight odor, allowing for clear processing and safety considerations during use.

Product Description

Product Description of Paraformaldehyde CAS#30525-89-4

Paraformaldehyde, also known as polyoxymethylene (POM), is a high-molecular-weight polymer derived from formaldehyde, typically consisting of 8 to 100 repeating units. Long-chain polyoxymethylene is widely used in the manufacture of heat-resistant engineering plastics, commonly referred to as polyoxymethylene plastics (POE), and is commercially recognized under brands such as DuPont’s Delrin®.

Under elevated temperatures, polyoxymethylene decomposes readily and releases formaldehyde with a slight characteristic odor, making proper handling and processing conditions essential.

Product Application of Paraformaldehyde CAS#30525-89-4

Paraformaldehyde is mainly used in the production and use of herbicides, and is also used to make synthetic resins (such as artificial horn products or artificial ivory) and adhesives. It is also used in the chemical book pharmaceutical industry (active ingredients of contraceptive creams) and for the disinfection of pharmacies, clothes and beddings. Paraformaldehyde can also be used as a fumigant, fungicide and insecticide.
